On Monday, 16 March 2026, in Barcelona, Òscar Ordeig, Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Government of Catalonia, presided over the presentation of the 2nd Guide to the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Catalonia, where he stated: “we aim to become a global benchmark in the production of extra virgin olive oils from Catalonia.”

OTRart has been a Creative Europe initiative that has addressed waste-related issues in the Mediterranean through creative and transformative artistic expressions, involving 6 countries: Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Malta and Croatia.
Organised by FAO (Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean, UfM), AECID (Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation) and Casa Mediterráneo, the Mediterranean Meeting Workshop on SIPAM: exchange of good practices and lessons learned was held at Casa Mediterráneo in Alicante on 2, 3 and 4 October, in which the 5 Spanish SIPAMs participated: Uva pasa de la Axarquía, Salinas de Añana, Olivos milenarios Territorio Sénia, Irrigation historical in l’Horta de Vale
RECOMED is the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Olive Tree Cities, formed by 10 Mediterranean countries, which are the main olive oil producers and is currently chaired by the representative of Greece, George Karabatos, together with Lola Amo, the President of AEMO (Spanish Association of Olive Tree Municipalities) as its Vice-president.

Jordi Hereu, Minister of Industry and Tourism, came to visit the millenary olive trees of the Territori Sénia in Ulldecona, where he met with the Taula del Sénia (Mancomunitat and Association), as well as with the owners of the estate and the Town Council.
OTRart is an initiative of the Creative Europe Program that addresses waste problems in the Mediterranean through artistic expression. The project began in Kalamata, Greece, in January of this year and involves six participating countries: Greece (Olive Routes), Spain (Taula del Sénia), Italy (Ceramics Route), France (Avignon University and Dechets d'Arts), Croatia (Tourism Association), and Malta (Unfinished Art Space).
